Wainwright threw two simulated "innings" against teammates Thursday morning on a back field at Roger Dean Stadium. The righthander pitched more than 35 pitches, and he went through his usual pregame progression of pitches. The whole exercise was meant to simulate the workload of about three innings. He's building arm strength and working on pitches while not taxing the abdominal strain that has slowed his progress this spring. He has not yet run at full speed, and he has been doing limited fielding exercises. Wainwright made the point that a pitcher usually goes from two live batting practice sessions and then into a Grapefruit League game. Thursday was his second live BP turn. " Wainwright said. I really would like to throw against hitters whether out there or in a game. They’ll tell you whether your ball is moving or whether it’s located well, if it’s got some hair on it. ".
