Texas, California, and Arizona top the list of states with most tailgate thefts. DES PLAINES, Illinois — The 2008 Ford F-250 and 2010 F-150 are the pickup trucks whose tailgates are most likely to be stolen, according to a new report by the National Insurance Crime Bureau (NICB). The NICB report, for the first time ever, looked at the number of thefts of pickup truck tailgates nationwide. The study found that 1,343 claims were filed in 45 states during the period from January 1, 2006 to September 30, 2012. The report also noted that thefts have been on the rise since 2009, with a projected 18 percent increase from 2011 to 2012.... During that same period, the 2007 Chevy Silverado experienced 39 thefts, and the 2008 Silverado was close behind with 36. The states with the most tailgate thefts were Texas (451), California (272), Arizona (125), Florida (86), and Nevada (36).... Source: www.edmunds.com

Pickups are the normally preferred vehicle for ranchers, farmers and construction workers, but Ford thinks its F-150 fits a new role: luxury car. While Ford already sells some models at expensive trim levels, this new version will be the top dog, surpassing the Lariat and Platinum editions. To make the truck stand out on the road, it’s equipped with 22-inch polished aluminum wheels, raised Limited lettering on the hood, a unique grille and a satin-finished chrome badge on the tailgate. Inside, the interior is lined with a higher-grade leather than what’s offered in other Ford vehicles and is accented with fiddleback eucalyptus wood trim. That’s why Ford rivals Ram and Chevrolet also are offering high-end trucks. Chrysler plans to offer a 1500 Laramie Limited Crew Cab Ram truck for the 2016 model year starting a $54,180. General Motors’ 2015 GMC Sierra 1500 Crew Cab has a similar price. But the Ford offering looks to set the upper limit, at least for now, Nerad said. By the time he was 21 he was in a hit TV show (‘Mama’), going on to many guest starring roles throughout the ’50s and ’60s. By 1977, he was back on another popular series, the family drama ‘Eight is Enough. ’ At that time, he was also a movie regular, making appearances in ‘High Anxiety,’ ‘Soylent Green,’ and Disney efforts ‘Snowball Express,’ ‘Superdad,’ and ‘Freaky Friday. But perhaps the greatest legacy left behind by the late Dick Van Patten, who died on June 23 of complications from diabetes, was familial. He even has a tie to George Clooney and ‘Mad Men”s John Slattery (his niece, Talia Balsam, is George’s ex and John’s current wife).
