Honda joins list of carmakers embedding Apple CarPlay, Android Auto - Computerworld

Honda this week became the latest automaker to announce it will offer Apple CarPlay and Android Auto as native features in its 2016 Accord lineup. Honda said it will first offer the smartphone mirroring applications to its Accords, which are coming to market in August. In May, General Motors announced it will offer Apple CarPlay and Android Auto in most of its 2016 vehicles, allowing customers to mirror their smartphones and apps to their infotainment systems. The 2016 Accord will be the first Honda model and among the first high-volume cars in the marketplace to feature both Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, the carmaker stated in an announcement. With the Honda Accord's new 7-in. touchscreen, users can swipe, tap and pinch icons and images just as they would on a smartphone or tablet to control the vehicle's audio system, display settings and other features. Along with music, CarPlay and Android Auto allows users to apply their navigation systems, make calls, send and receive messages from the touchscreen or by voice via Siri (with CarPlay). Android Auto is compatible with Android 5. 0 and higher and includes Google Maps, Google Now, messaging, music and other mobile apps. Source: www.computerworld.com

A Jacksonville Beach couple face charges of disorderly intoxication after witnesses at the beach spotted them engaging in intercourse on April 26. At approximately 3:36 p. m. , a Jacksonville Beach police officer responded to the 500 block of... The officer noted in his report that several thousand people were on the beach to celebrate the Opening of the Beaches. Upon arrival, he spotted a group of individuals, including the victim, pointing toward a man standing near the Fifth Avenue walkover. The woman ran through Ocean Front Park, and attempted to hide in some palmetto bushes on the north side of the park. While on the beach with his mother and friends, the victim said he watched the couple enter the water and begin to have sexual intercourse. The officer could see several small children in the area, along with numerous beach-goers. The victim added that when he approached the water, the two quickly pulled up their pants and headed toward the beach. He attempted to tell the man and woman to leave the beach, but the woman punched him in the face with a closed fist. ATLANTIC BEACH. ? The stories of two witnesses, who watched a black truck fishtail and crash, tipped off Atlantic Beach police officers to a possible drunk driving accident. Source: jacksonville.com

A Wayne County woman and her son who had stopped to help a motorist on Interstate 96 Sunday night were injured when their pickup was rear-ended by car. Sheriff Bob Bezotte said the driver of a 2015 Nissan Altima was traveling west on I-96 when it left the roadway and rear-ended a 2014 Ford F-150 that was parked behind a disabled 1994 Ford Ranger west of the Nicholson Road overpass in Handy... “A 25-year-old Canton man was between the two vehicles when the F-150 was rear-ended and he was thrown in the grass shoulder,” the sheriff explained. “The 47-year-old Canton woman was getting out of the F-150 when it was struck. Bezotte said the Canton woman suffered life-threatening injuries and was last known to be in surgery. The Nissan driver, identified as a 33-year-old India native who lives in Houston, Texas, and his 27-year-old wife and 1-year-old child, also were injured in the crash. The roadway was partially closed for about three hours during the investigation, which is ongoing by the Livingston County Sheriff’s Department’s Traffic Safety Bureau.
