32-year-old killed in Oswego County crash; 9-year-old girl and her father injured - Syracuse.com

PALERMO, N. Y. -- A 32-year-old man was killed Sunday afternoon when his car collided with a pickup truck towing a camper on state Route 3 in Palermo, Oswego County sheriff's investigators said. Sun, whose most recent address was 29 Vincent St. in Carthage, was driving a 2002 Saturn south on state Route 3, just north of county Route 4 in Palermo at 12:11 p. m. Sunday when the crash happened, sheriff's investigators said. Sun's car crossed the center line and collided with a northbound 2008 Dodge Ram pickup truck towing a camper, investigators said. Bartlett, 48, and his 9-year-old daughter, who were in the pickup truck, were injured in the crash, deputies said. McFee and Menter Ambulance services, Palermo and Mexico volunteer fire departments, and the New York State Police assisted at the scene. Fiat Chrysler Must Offer To Buy Back 500000 Pickups - WCHS-TV8

— Fiat Chrysler must offer to buy back from customers more than 500,000 Ram pickup trucks and other vehicles in the biggest such action in U. S. history as part of a costly deal with safety regulators to settle legal problems in about two dozen... In addition, owners of more than a million older Jeeps with vulnerable rear-mounted gas tanks will be able to trade them in or be paid by Chrysler to have the vehicles repaired. The Ram pickups, which are the company's top-selling vehicle, have defective steering parts that can cause drivers to lose control. Some previous repairs have been unsuccessful, so Fiat Chrysler agreed to the buyback, according to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration. The older Jeeps have fuel tanks located behind the rear axle, with little to shield them in a rear crash. At least 75 people have died in crash-related fires, although Fiat Chrysler maintains they are as safe as comparable vehicles from the same era. Both the Jeep and Ram measures are part of a larger settlement between the government and the automaker over allegations of misconduct in 23 recalls covering more than 11 million vehicles. Odessa Police have released new information in connection with a late night weekend accident in Odessa. The accident happened around 11 p. m. Saturday night at the intersection of Highway 191 and East Loop 338. . Odessa Police say the driver of a white Dodge Ram ran a red light while crossing East Loop 338 when the Dodge struck a 2008 GMC Sierra. That impact cause the Dodge Ram to hit a telephone pole. The two occupants of the GMC Sierra, Tayler Holman, 24, and Terry Cobos, 18, both of Odessa, were taken to Medical Center Hospital with non-life threatening injuries. Two occupants from the Dodge Ram, Fernando Hinojosa, 34, of Mission, Texas, and Orlando Idrogo, 40, of Homestead, Florida, were pronounced dead on scene. Two other people in the Dodge Ram, Jesse Castro, 36 of Converse, Texas and Mundo Cerda, 32 of San Benito, Texas, were taken to Medical Center Hospital and are listed in critical condition.
