And it's so easy to get entitled when you're dealing with this segment: The pickup industry is presently locked in a battle to see who can spoil consumers with more comfort and more capability. At least those of us shopping around for big trucks, or dreaming about having an excuse to do so. This makes it tough to recommend one full-size pickup over another, at least when it comes to Rams and Chevys (I'm sure Ford's new F-150 won't make... Marque distinctions become more apparent when you're dealing with the heavy-duties, as a weekend in this 2015 GMC Sierra 3500HD Denali helped illustrate. Fortunately, the interior is right in line with the high standard set by its smaller stablemate. It's not just the extra features, like an exhaust brake, that make you feel like a bona-fide trucker (I'd don a mesh-back cap and my yellow-tinted aviators with confidence if it was a tad louder on a downward grade, though). With the bed more or less unladen, the Sierra was less certain in corners than, for example, the Ram 2500. Fail to slow down enough when hitting an on/off ramp and you can feel hints of a skidding wheel hop developing. Source: autoweek.com

For the successful farmer who now pilots a climate-controlled, $325,000 John Deere 9370R tractor with mission-control computer display terminals, the fully-equipped Sierra Denali 2500HD that we tested might be no less than the minimum required. This diesel-driven, high-waisted brute feels more like a working Escalade, and at $64,000 for the crew-cab, diesel version, it’s priced in the neighborhood. And in the Sierra Denali you’ll get one. Once you adjust to sitting a mile high and towering over mere cars — and in Manhattan (New York, that is, not Kansas) it’s kind of a cool perspective — you realize that the Sierra doesn’t feel like a truck. On the highway, it’s one of the quietest vehicles on the highway that I’ve tested this year. General Motors says it will offer an 8-speed transmission for the 2015 GMC Sierra Denali in the 6. 2L EcoTec3 V8 engine configuration for Dubai and the rest of the Middle Eastern market. This setup gives the truck both improved fuel economy and higher first gears for towing. For truck owners, the new GM 8L90 transmission will offer the 2 extra gears in a 7. 0 overall gear ratio. This ratio is wider than the current 6L80 six-speed setup. This means it will likely have a higher first gear to help get the load rolling. On the high-end gears like six, seven or eight, these gears will likely be setup to maximize fuel economy at higher speeds. These gears are aimed at allowing the engine to produce a minimal amount of power to maintain these higher speeds. For example, where a six-speed may have maintained high speeds at 2,500 RPMs, the new 8-speed will do the same at 1,500 RPMs. Source: gmauthority.com
