Just the Facts: NHTSA has opened an investigation into an estimated 340,000 2008 Ford F-250 and F-350 Super Duty trucks after complaints of loss of steering capability. Ford is cooperating with federal safety regulators in the probe, said Kelli Felker, a Ford spokeswoman, in response to a query from Edmunds. WASHINGTON — The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration has opened an investigation into an estimated 340,000 2008 Ford F-250 and F-350 Super Duty trucks after complaints of loss of steering capability. Ford is cooperating with federal safety regulators in the probe, said Kelli Felker, a Ford spokeswoman, in response to a query from Edmunds. "Complainants allege an internal failure of the steering gear box results in a loss of steering capability," said NHTSA in its description of the problem. Federal safety regulators say they have received five complaints alleging an internal failure of the steering gear box resulting in a complete loss of steering control in 2008 F-250 and F-350 Super Duty trucks.
