According to an arrest affidavit, officers activated their high beams to illuminate the Nissan sedan before approaching and noticed a male passenger and a woman in the driver’s seat. “When he got closer to the Nissan sedan, the driver immediately began to drive toward (the arresting officer) with no headlights on,” the affidavit stated. GM recalls 316000 vehicles for headlight issue - The Detroit News

Washington — General Motors Co. said Monday it is recalling more than 316,000 vehicles worldwide because the low-beam headlamps may fail. GM is calling back 273,182 Buick LaCrosse sedans and Chevrolet, GMC, Buick, Saab and Isuzu midsize SUVs in the U. S. for possible intermittent or permanent loss of low-beam headlamps. GM said the low-beam headlamps and daytime running lamps could work intermittently or fail permanently. GM notified the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration of the recall on Nov. Automotive News reported the recall earlier Monday. GM North America has now recalled a record-setting 30. 3 million vehicles worldwide, including 26. 8 million in the United States. In May, GM paid a record $35 million fine to NHTSA for a delayed ignition switch recall, and agreed to up to three years of monitoring. The delayed recall has prompted investigations from the Justice Department, Congress, 48 state attorneys general, the Securities and Exchange Commission and federal regulators. Since then, GM said it has made dramatic changes to how it approaches safety recalls, moving faster to address and recall vehicles and reports of problems with vehicles. The company named a new vice president in charge of safety, added dozens of new safety investigators and reorganized its approach to safety issues. Source: www.detroitnews.com
