While the 6. 7L Cummins-equipped rig’s performance has never disappointed Mike, he wants the truck to stand out from the crowd of other chromed-out stock Laramie editions on the roads of Southern California by blacking out some of the factory bling. The Ram is a two-wheel-drive model and Mike wants no more than 2 inches of lift because, he says, “My wife already puts up with enough and doesn’t need the hassle of climbing up into a giant rig. ” With this being the case, a traditional 4-inch-or-taller lift over 35-plus-inch tires is out of the question—but that doesn’t mean Mike is out of luck. S. government's highway safety agency says it will hold a public hearing in July to determine if Fiat Chrysler met requirements to notify customers and fix safety problems... ly/1HcNfVe Federal regulators on Monday announced a public hearing July 2 to investigate whether Fiat Chrysler Automobiles has failed to properly carry out 20 recalls involving about 10 million vehicles. National Highway Traffic Safety Administration Administrator Mark Rosekind said FCA has low recall completion rates, inadequate fixes and a lack of timely notification for owners. FCA said in a statement that its completion rate for recalls "exceeds the industry average, and all FCA US campaigns are conducted in consultation with NHTSA. " It says its completion rate on active recalls is 77% vs. an industry average of 70%. Rosekind said the hearing will be broad and that the agency can recommend that Fiat Chrysler buy back or replace vehicles, which has happened in at least one... In November, CEO Sergio Marchionne disputed NHTSA's contention that FCA had a "woeful" recall repair rate on a recall of 1. 56 million Jeep Liberty and Grand Cherokee SUVs with gas tanks mounted in a way that they can catch fire when struck from... At the time, Fiat Chrysler said it had a 13. 2% repair rate on Liberty and 3. 5% on Grand Cherokee. Chrysler is recalling nearly 67,000 manual transmission Dodge Ram pickup trucks in response to problems with the model's clutch ignition interlock switch. "An investigation by FCA US engineers discovered switches in certain model year 2006 and 2007 pickups may be equipped with spring wire that differs from wire used in previous switches," Chrysler announced in a press release. Included in the recall are Dodge Ram 1500, 2500 and 3500 pickups, Dodge Dakotas and Mitsubishi Raiders, all manufactured between July 2005 and July 2006 with model years 2006 and 2007. One person has already died as a result of the faulty... This marks the second Dodge Ram recall issued by Chrysler in December, after the automaker announced a loosely fitted nut may cause the rear axle to seize on 257,000 Dodge Ram pickups built between January 2004 and August 2005.
