Motorcyclist killed in hit-and-run collision in Canoga Park identified - LA Daily News

A motorcyclist from Acton who was killed in a hit-and-run collision involving a pick-up truck in Canoga Park early Saturday has been identified. Los Angeles police said they arrested 32-year-old Canoga Park resident Pablo Sandoval, who was identified as the driver of the pick-up truck, for vehicular manslaughter after the suspect allegedly fled the scene. A female passenger on the motorcycle was also critically injured, said LAPD Officer Mike Lopez. The suspect was driving his 2004 Nissan Titan pick-up truck westbound on Saticoy in the eastbound lanes of travel when he collided with a 1999 Harley-Davidson motorcycle headed eastbound on Saticoy, he said. The driver of the motorcycle and his passenger were both ejected from the motorcycle, he said. Source: www.dailynews.com

Canoga Park man charged in hit-and-run collision that killed Acton motorcyclist - LA Daily News

A 32-year-old man has pleaded not guilty in Saturday’s hit-and-run collision in Canoga Park that killed a motorcyclist from Acton and left his female passenger critically injured. Pablo Sandoval, of Canoga Park, was charged Tuesday with one felony count of hit-and-run and one count of vehicular manslaughter. Sandoval, who was arrested Saturday shortly after the collision in a nearby apartment, had a valid driver’s license but had been ticketed three times since 2012 for being an unlicensed driver, according to the DMV. Police said Tuesday they were investigating whether Sandoval was under the influence at the time. Keith Dumois, 57, of Acton, who was driving his 1999 Harley Davidson motorcycle, was pronounced dead at the scene while his female passenger remained in critical condition this week. Police said Sandoval was driving his 2004 Nissan Titan pickup truck traveling westbound on Saticoy Street about 3:40 a. m. and, as he passed De Soto Avenue, crossed into the eastbound lanes and collided head-on with the motorcycle. Dumois, who was pronounced dead at the scene, and his female passenger were both ejected from the Harley. Dumois was a motorcycle mechanic and part-time actor known in his circles as a loyal friend with a zest for life, friends said. “Everybody that rides a Harley in the San Fernando Valley knows him,” said Brett Gilliat, 54, of Van Nuys, a close friend of Dumois for some 25 years. Ford said that the low fuel warning light on some 2007-08 Ford Edge and Lincoln MKX models may come on even when the fuel tank is full. 1, 2007, usually occurs just after a tank fill-up, and is due to the fuel pump float binding against the lip of the metal baffle in the fuel tank. Start the job by siphoning the gasoline and removing the fuel tank. Next, remove the fuel pump from the tank opening. Now temporarily reinstall the fuel pump half way into the tank opening and check the clearance between the float and the baffle. The clearance should be 1 5/32-inch with the float all the way down and 13/16-inch with the float all the way up. Readjust the baffle as necessary to get the desired clearances. To complete the fix, reinstall the fuel pump, put the tank back into the vehicle, fill the tank with fuel, turn on the ignition and make sure the low fuel light is off. Source: www.tirebusiness.com
