Canoga Park man charged in hit-and-run collision that killed Acton motorcyclist - LA Daily News
A 32-year-old man has pleaded not guilty in Saturday’s hit-and-run collision in Canoga Park that killed a motorcyclist from Acton and left his female passenger critically injured. Pablo Sandoval, of Canoga Park, was charged Tuesday with one felony count of hit-and-run and one count of vehicular manslaughter. Sandoval, who was arrested Saturday shortly after the collision in a nearby apartment, had a valid driver’s license but had been ticketed three times since 2012 for being an unlicensed driver, according to the DMV. Police said Tuesday they were investigating whether Sandoval was under the influence at the time. Keith Dumois, 57, of Acton, who was driving his 1999 Harley Davidson motorcycle, was pronounced dead at the scene while his female passenger remained in critical condition this week. Police said Sandoval was driving his 2004 Nissan Titan pickup truck traveling westbound on Saticoy Street about 3:40 a. m. and, as he passed De Soto Avenue, crossed into the eastbound lanes and collided head-on with the motorcycle. Dumois, who was pronounced dead at the scene, and his female passenger were both ejected from the Harley. Dumois was a motorcycle mechanic and part-time actor known in his circles as a loyal friend with a zest for life, friends said. “Everybody that rides a Harley in the San Fernando Valley knows him,” said Brett Gilliat, 54, of Van Nuys, a close friend of Dumois for some 25 years.
