The mammoth machines inside Ford Motor Co. ’s stamping plant in Hamburg churn out vehicle parts, destined for an assembly plant outside Toronto and other Ford factories. Eventually, the parts will give shape to vehicles like the Ford Edge. The F-150 work pumped up the plant’s volume in the aluminum parts segment. And with lower gas prices tempting consumers back to bigger vehicles, like the Edge and the F-150, there’s plenty of work to do at the Hamburg plant. So much work, in fact, that Ford this week cut in half the annual two-week summer vacation. By chopping a week from its summer shutdown at 14 plants that help make its hot-selling sport-utility vehicles and the F-150 pickup, Ford expects to produce an extra 40,000 vehicles. Edge sales jumped by 78 percent in April and rose by 34 percent to a record high in May, with demand so strong that the vehicles were sitting on a dealer’s lot for only 13 days before sale, Ford said. There was just a 26-day supply of F-150s on dealer lots in May, less than half of the 60-day supply that dealers typically have in stock. Source: www.buffalonews.com

Investigators say two brothers involved in a hit-and-run wreck were fighting when they went off the road and struck two teenage girls walking alongside it. Gage Shriver, the alleged driver, has been arrested for manslaughter and driving under the... The brothers had been to a nearby QuikTrip at about 3 a. m. when they began arguing, according to investigators. Authorities say Gage Shriver's 1999 black Dodge 1500 pickup ran off Gordon Road and into a field, striking the girls and a fence. The brothers reportedly got out of the truck and continued their fight before getting back in and driving back onto the road. The mother told police the three drove back to QuikTrip in the mother's Suburban and passed by the wreck scene. That's when the brothers say they first saw Talley, injured by the side of the road, and called 911. During the course of the investigation, Ledbetter said authorities found one of the brother's wallet in the field. Authorities interviewed both brothers and said they changed their stories during questioning. Gage Shriver first told investigators he swerved to miss a deer then crashed. Source: www.newson6.com

Missouri Woman Thanks Thieves for 'Pimping Out My Vehicle' - ABC News

Becky Schoenig had her new 2015 Ford Fusion for less than two months when it was stolen out of her driveway in St. Charles County, Missouri , on Monday. Thankfully, the hybrid was recovered Tuesday night when a man in St. Louis saw a suspicious car in his neighborhood and called 911, Schoenig told ABC News today. "The cops showed up and the kids were all arrested and the car was retrieved," said Schoenig, 40. But the story doesn't end there. On Wednesday -- which also happened to be April Fools ' Day -- Schoenig was shocked when she saw her recovered car pull up. "[The thieves] had spray-painted the rims, put details on the whole car," she said. The married mother of two decided to make light of the situation and posted a photo of her with the car on Facebook, thanking "the car thieves for pimping out my vehicle for me. ". "Everybody was laughing, I was having fun with it," she said. The car is getting restored to its original look, but the Facebook photo went viral, remaining the perfect snapshot for how to stay positive in a rough situation. "I think part of why it's gone as viral as it has is because I have a really good support team of friends who were helping me not break down when I wanted to not be happy with people," Schoenig said. "It was good people that found my car. That was the hardest part because I was upset with people, humanity," Schoenig said. Source: abcnews.go.com
