The White Truck - Firing Order - Four Wheeler Network

Everybody needs to own a white truck at some point in their life. Mind you, when I say white truck, I’m not talking about the color. I’m talking about the lowest-optioned, barest-boned, utterly utilitarian beast you can buy. Almost every one I’ve seen with zero punches on the option card has been sprayed white from the factory, so I’ve always called ’em white trucks, no matter what color they’re actually painted. I owned an almost-white truck once. The paint was white, so by my bent logic, it was a white almost-white truck. It had a fuel-injected 460ci engine, C6 transmission, BW1356 T-case, a Sterling 10. 25-inch rear, and the Dana 44-based TTB front suspension. I didn’t mind the puny TTB ’cause my plan was always to stab in a Dana 60 from a similar-year F-350. I put a Banks PowerPack system on it consisting of full-length headers, an after-cat exhaust, and a high-flow intake. I hung a Gear Vendor’s Overdrive off the back of the BW1356 so I could split gears while towing and keep the valves from floating at freeway speeds. Almost every mile that truck travelled, it was towing or hauling something heavy. I replaced the driver side three times and the passenger side twice. White trucks have roll-up windows. 1989 Ford F-250 Disc Brakes - Tech Stopping The Sterling - Four Wheeler

A case in point is the Ford Sterling 10. 25 rear axle. With a big 10. 25-inch ring gear and full-floating 35-spline axleshafts, it's right at home coping with big tires or a heavy trailer. However, we've noticed that the rear drums just don't want to stay in adjustment, despite a full rebuild with new shoes and adjuster hardware. It got so bad that we were contemplating a Dana 70 or GM 14-bolt swap for the rear just so our front tires wouldn't lock up during panic stops when the rear brakes weren't working. Thankfully, TSM in Castle Rock, Colorado, put the wraps on its new disc-brake conversion kit for the Ford 10. 25 axle before we got around to removing our rear axle, taking it to the desert, and blowing holes in it with a Barrett 0. 50-cal. You can either supply your own '79-'87 GM 4x4 calipers without parking brake or large GM calipers with parking brake, or buy new ones from TSM. Source: www.fourwheeler.com
