Carlsbad local Vicki Worth brought her 1969 Ford Ranchero GT. "This is a really fun event that everyone can come out to and appreciate," Worth said. For a lot of people, it brings back old memories of their first car or growing up in their parent’s car. Worth, who was accompanied Thursday by her husband and daughter, said her goal is to buy a tow hitch for her Ranchero in order to tow a 1967 Airstream Travel Trailer with her husband. The Encinitas Historical Society served free root-beer floats at the 1883 Schoolhouse at Fourth and F streets, while SoulScape Gift & Book Store offered free Henna tattoos. The couple, Bill and Cari, preferred not to give their last name but said they are visiting family in Carlsbad and had heard of the event from their son. "We love the old cars and old music," Bill said. For those who could not attend Thursday’s event, the final Classic Car Cruise Night of the summer is scheduled from 5:30 p. m. to 7:30 p. m. Sept. 1969 Chevy ElCamino - Lima Ohio

CELINA — The name, El Camino, means ‘the road’ or ‘the path’ in Spanish. Chevy introduced the El Camino in 1959 in response to the success of the Ford Ranchero. Production started again for the model year 1964, and the El Camino was based on the Chevelle platform. Although it is based on Chevy car lines, the vehicle is classified and titled as a truck. Chevy made the El Camino longer in 1968, and it was then based on the Chevelle station wagon/four door sedan wheelbase. For the first time, the Chevrolet 350 V9 was used in an El Camino. South America’s automotive landscape is very unique and intriguing. As South American economies like Brazil continue to grow, the continent is getting access to more global cars with higher safety standards. Under Ford’s One Ford plan, Ford seeks to reduce the amount of global platforms from its current 15 to just 9. Before that happens, let’s have a look at some of the unique-to-South-America offerings of Ford. Argentinian Ford Falcon. The Argentinian Falcon was a best-seller from 1963 through to the 1980s. Like our version, it was favoured for police and taxi duties, and was a popular race car. A “Ranchero” ute was also offered with a 700kg payload. Interestingly, power was derived from the original 170ci engine all the way through, with the 188 and 221 ci (3. 0 and 3. 6L) engines of our XR-series also adopted.
