Father, son bonding comes in many forms — some enjoy fishing, others hunting or sports, and some like to discuss, work on, or build cars. While the 30th annual Mothers Polish Classic at Pismo Beach car show did not offer duck hunting, tuna fishing, or football opportunities, it did have around 1,000 custom, classic and antique cars, trucks and hot rods displayed throughout the beach... For the more hands-on car enthusiasts the show, which continues today, offered many vehicle vendors, auto parts and accessories, engines, and toy cars. John Mitchell drove his 1957 Ford Fairlane — a vehicle he bought at the show six years ago — from Orange County to be in the show. A man washes a 1957 Ford Fairlane that's used as a taxi by tourists in Havana. Our hint was of little use. It said: “My dad owned a black one that had to cool off before he could restart the engine. ” Some readers thought it might tie in with an acronym about Ford: Fix or repair daily. Chosen randomly from the correct entries was the name of Lowell Fritsche, of Augusta, who said: “I say that you have a 1957 Ford Fairlane 500. It looks like they might have added a headlight hood over the headlight. I remember I had chrome things that covered the top half of the headlight. “The only story I have of a 1957 Ford was a friend had one. We asked him how fast he was driving, and he said, ‘As fast as it would go. ’ ”. We thank Fritsche for his memories. I owned a 1956 Victoria and a 1958 Fairlane, both great cars. My 1956 Bermuda Blue and Colonial White hardtop was one of the sweetest cars I ever owned.
