NWS: Mitchell receives 2.85 inches of rain - Daily Republic

The storm brought heavy rains and strong winds and left about 2. 85 inches of rainfall accumulation north of Mitchell, according to the National Weather Service in Sioux Falls. The NWS reported several eastern and central South Dakota towns saw significant rainfall totals ranging from 1 to nearly 6 inches. Bridgewater reported 4. 2 inches, Dolton 3. 59 inches and White Lake showed 2. 55 inches of rain, according to Mike Gillispie, NWS hydrologist. Avera's Grassland campus is growing - Daily Republic

5 million medical office building broke ground last year and is the first project in a multi-phase campus plan to eventually move Avera Queen of Peace's operations to the southern part of Mitchell. The building, which is located west of Cabela's and sits along Interstate 90, is a hybrid of two different buildings, explained Journey's Bill Lienke, who serves as project superintendent. The taller part of the building, which is closer to and more visible from Interstate 90, is home to three floors of clinic space, each nearly mirror images of each other and totaling about 70 exam rooms and 16 procedure rooms. The single-level southern part of the building will be home to the lab space, X-ray, radiology, dialysis and a pharmacy. The pharmacy, which will have a drive-up window, will become Avera Queen of Peace's primary outpatient pharmacy, while the hospital will retain an inpatient pharmacy. Clark said it will provide for another level of convenience, and considering the number of providers that would be in the building, it would be important to have a pharmacy on-site. Urgent care, family medicine and a newly signed dermatologist — set to begin next year — will work on the first floor of the clinic, while pediatrics and internal medicine will be located on the second floor.
