Ford Will Stop Building Focus And C-Max In Michigan Starting 2018 - Top Speed

production at the Michigan Assembly plant in 2018. The change coincides with a 2018 model-year redesign for both vehicles, suggesting that the next-gen Focus and C-Max will be built at another plant. Ford did not announce what vehicle might go into the plant to replace the Focus and C-Max. With UAW talks scheduled to begin on July 23, it seems unlikely that Ford will shutter the factory and idle over 4,000 workers. The plant’s third shift has been cut, and some jobs have been trimmed, but the Michigan Assembly plant is also one of the few Ford plants that boasts excess capacity. The Detroit Free Press speculates that Ford could be planning to use the plant for additional capacity to produce the 2014 Ford Escape. With a number of other manufacturers moving production to Mexico as well, analysts are also considering that this may be a strongarm tactic to give Ford an advantage in the upcoming UAW talks. He had notched the frame in order to lower the car, added a custom three-piece hood, V-notched the spreader bar, removed the fenders, shaved the radiator cap and door handles, reworked the car’s interior, and added a 21-stud, Flathead V-8 from a... The car then gains even more notoriety when Bob Petersen, the owner of Hot Rod Magazine and Petersen Publishing, shot a picture of McGee in his deuce coupe cruising along the USC campus for the cover of Hot Rod Magazine. As it turns out, McGee’s roadster was one of the first hot rods to grace the magazine’s cover. Ford Planning Le Mans Comeback - Top Speed

Motor Company is reportedly pondering a factory GT program that will see the Detroit-based manufacturer return to the famed 24 Hours of Le Mans race after a very long absence. Ford, who is currently providing EcoBoost engines to a prototype program with Riley Technologies in the TUDOR United SportsCar Championship, is said to be evaluating a factory GT project. For Ford to be able to join the famed race in 2016, a vehicle should already be in development, and not just a pending approval. Unless the said race car is a well-guarded secret, chances are slim for Ford to make a comeback to Le Mans as soon as 2016. Click past the jump to read more about Ford at Le Mans. Ford’s last triumph at the 24 Hours of Le Mans dates all the way back to 1969. The same year also marks the last time when a U. S. -built car won the event, making Ford’s possible return to Le Mans as exciting as it gets.
