A 50,000-square-foot Burlington store and a 63,000-square-foot "popular national sporting goods store" on Skibo Road between Lewis Chapel Middle School and Home Depot. said it's acquiring a 15-acre site for the development, which will include another 14,000-square-foot building for local and regional retailers and service providers and three out-parcels on Skibo Road next to Carolina Primary Care and a proposed... GBT hasn't named the sporting goods store but it notes it has worked with many retailers in the past, including Academy Sports + Outdoors, a Texas-based chain specializing in sporting-good megastores. The Burlington store is expected to open next spring, with the rest of the development completed by summer 2016. Discount Tire owns the. 81-acre site at Skibo and southernmost driveway into the Home Depot property and submitted plans for a 7,373-square-foot store there after buying the land in late 2013. No word on the status of that project. Heading north on Skibo, plenty of work is going on at the 19,000-square-foot shopping strip being built across from Flow Mazda.
