Pulled from a 2000 S80 Turbo - the rebuild year on this XEMODEX looks to be 2-3-2015
PART NUMBER: 8644347
This is a green XEMODEX label which indicates that it has been rebuilt. White labels are (generally) original equipment and yellow label are rebuilt by Volvo and greenish labels are from 3rd party rebuilder (xemodex). I've owned several 70 series Volvos and currently own an 01 XC70. I've had to replace the ETMs on every one. I went with XEMODEX (great product) the subsequent Volvos I either bought another XEMODEX or yellow labels ETM. The XEMODEX is considered the holy grail of rebuilt ETMS! I haven't had any issues with any XEMODEX product in past installations. I never had to reprogram any of the vehicles. They were literally a Plug and Play item! Mine had the wild idle from 250rpm to 2000 rpm and would die around town. Was fine for driving on the highway but would cut out intermittently - once the XEMODEX ETM went in, then that problem went away.
I know the label looks faded but the year rebuilt is discernible as is the P/N. Relatively speaking a 5year old rebuild makes this ETM still young!
Note: How much is your time worth? I have replaced enough of these that I can remove and replace one of these in less than an hour and that is with removing the fan shroud, one of the alternator anchor bolts, the air supply tube , etc... You can order a rebuild kit and watch the appropriate youtube video and you if you are like me - anything new, takes me 3x as long the video implies. Ideally, you only need to replace the ETM once. So, while the rebuild yourself sounds like a money saver you will be spending your time learning a new skill set that you may only have to use once if you only have one Volvo in the 99-01 yr range. Let's say conservatively speaking the rebuild takes you...
