Holden may not be No.1 by 2020, concedes GM executive - CarAdvice

It’s not just Toyota that Holden should be focused on, but Mazda and Hyundai. If anything, Holden should be more concerned if they’ll even finish on the podium this year. We’ve seen it with Ford, which if they’re not careful, will finish behind Nissan and Mitsubishi this year, but the two brands just don’t have the street cred they used to have. Anyone with half a brain would know that it’s impossible for Holden to beat Toyota by 2020. if Holden can’t even beat Toyota when they still have nationalism on their side, what makes them think they can beat Toyota once they stop manufacturing in... They can try to fool the ignorants into thinking they’re still an Australian brand, but the majority will know that they’re not. If anything, they’ll lose their old customers that used to buy their cars because it’s Aussie made. Toyota have their position on the back of a broad SUV range, and strong sales of light commercials. GM simply don’t have products that can gain traction against RAV, Kluger and Prado, and their light commercial range is a joke. If it were only about passenger car sales, then it might be possible to top Toyota. I still believe that GM have underestimated how much Holden will collapse due to the stupidity of their decision to close manufacturing in Australia. Source: www.caradvice.com.au
