Midway Man Dies In Hamblen Co. Crash - Greeneville Sun
A Greene County man died shortly after 2 a. m. Thursday on southbound Interstate 81 in Hamblen County after the pickup truck he was driving collided with a semi tanker truck, according to a preliminary report by the Tennessee Highway Patrol. Gary Cole, 64, of Midway, was driving northbound in the southbound lane of I-81 when the crash happened, the report said. Tittle, 38, of Piney Flats, was southbound on I-81 in a Peterbilt tanker truck and swerved to avoid a collision with Cole's truck, the report said. The tractor-trailer struck the pickup truck, pinning it against the roadway cable barrier. The tanker truck continued off the right side of the road, the report said.
