Soldier Sentenced to Nine Years in Jail for Armed Robbery - AllAfrica.com

HARARE magistrate, Hosea Mujaya last Friday sentenced a member of the Zimbabwe National Army (ZNA) to nine years in jail for armed robbery. Court heard on December 12, 2014, Mushure together with his six accomplices, one of whom is now diseased, robbed one Silence Mwanjira at gun point in Harare's Dzivarasekwa area. It was the state's case that on the day in question Mwanjira was dropping off her employee at her home in Dzivarasekwa when the gang blocked her car and forced her out, threatening to shoot her if she made any sound. The gang, led by soldier, went on to bundle Mwanjira and three others who were in her vehicle into their getaway car, a Mazda pickup. The robbers then and drove off at high speed with one of them driving Mwanjira's vehicle. Mushure and his crew later went on to dump Mwanjira at a bushy area in Snake Park near Lake Chivero and drove off with the stolen vehicle and property. The detectives went to the shopping centre to investigate and arrested one of the gang members, Herbert Hakurotwi, who led them to the rest of the group. Source: allafrica.com
