Bokeelia neighbors say they fear for their lives - The News-Press

John Marshall brought Hubbell's body to his attorney Robert Harris' Fort Myers law firm in the bed of his pickup Wednesday evening. "I'm sure the neighbors who knew Mr. Hubbell are upset, but it doesn't excuse the fact Mr. Hubbell brought a gun out," Harris said. Marshall, 52, had a swollen lip, a freshly missing tooth, another tooth that is chipped and what looked like two broken thumbs, Harris said. Marshall said he brought the man to the attorney's office because he didn't know whom else to trust. Marshall has not been charged with a crime and was released Wednesday after questioning. According to Harris, Hubbell threatened Marshall with a gun and the two struggled over it, ending in Hubbell's death. The shooting took place in the area of Hubbell's home at 6395 Hodges Drive and Marshall's property at 6418 Hodges Drive. Late Thursday crime scene technicians and detectives still had the sand-based roadway cordoned off with crime scene tape. According to a Cape Coral police report, the victim said he was struck by a Honda Ridgeline pickup in the restaurant's parking lot after a dispute over a parking spot. A witness gave police the pickup's license plate number, which matched Marshall's, and surveillance video backed up the victim's and witness's version of events. Source: www.news-press.com
