2015 GMC Canyon Extended Cab review notes - Autoweek

GMC’s back-to-basics work truck. ASSOCIATE EDITOR GRAHAM KOZAK: Honkin’ diesel-burning heavy-duties are enjoyable in their own right, but this manual-equipped 2015 GMC Canyon is genuinely fun. Yes, there were a few surprises -- no power mirrors, for example. how often do you need to adjust mirrors on your daily driver. But it’s nevertheless a bit surprising to me. Is it actually cheaper to build two versions of the truck, one without power mirrors (a vanishingly small number, I’d guess) and one with. I imagine that the working man who buys this sort of truck will get the automatic anyway, as there’s a good chance he’ll be on the phone/cramming food in his mouth on the way to the next job site. I’m just sitting here, behind a computer screen, trying to imagine how people who buy these sorts of things use them on a daily basis. In the arms race to build ever more brawny trucks, it’s easy to roll your eyes at the capability figures each new full-size and heavy-duty pick boasts -- until you actually need to haul something car-sized or larger. However, the V6-powered Canyon with the Z82 trailing package would handle everything I could possibly throw at it with its 7,000-pound towing. Source: autoweek.com
