Fire heavily damages Valley City home - INFORUM
A resident of the home escaped the fire without injuries, Retterath said. The fire was reported about 3 a. m. , Retterath said. When firefighters arrived on the scene, the fire had spread into the interior of the home and gotten into the attic, he said. He said it took 30 minutes to get the fire under control and another 20 minutes to make sure it was completely extinguished. Retterath said he will investigate the damage Monday to try and determine the cause of the fire. After serving a tour in the U. S. Army, he attended the University of St. Thomas in St Paul, Minn. He joined The Forum in October 1989, working as a copy editor until 2000.
