Horseheads crash victims fun-loving golfing buddies - Elmira Star-Gazette
The two retirees were headed there Saturday morning when a tractor-trailer and their Ford Ranger pickup collided at Westinghouse and Watkins roads, killing both men. “These two guys were the most personal men you would ever want to meet, joking all the time and having a great time,” said friend and fellow golfer Bill Dominikoski, of Horseheads. Dominikoski said he worked part time at the course from 2000 to 2011, and was a starter, ranger and ran the restaurant there. He said Painton, 72, of Elmira, was formerly the assistant pro there. “He was a great golfer and good instructor,” Dominikoski said. Dominikoski said the two men had a regular 7 a. m. tee time every Saturday or Sunday, and he would usually tee off right before them each weekend. They were two of the nicest guys you would ever want to meet,” Dominikoski said. He said Fossaseca, who was 76 and lived in Elmira, was a year older than him and they both attended Elmira Free Academy. Fossaseca was the driver of the pickup truck in Saturday’s collision, and Painton was his passenger. Source: www.stargazette.com
