Merrill Police and Fire Commission member David Hayes is charged with two felonies involving the sexual molestation of a child, according to Lincoln County court records. Hayes, 46, of Merrill is charged in Lincoln County court with second-degree sexual assault with use of force and having sex with a child 16 years old or older, according to court records. Hayes' initial court appearance will be before a substitute judge when one is assigned, according to records of the court hearing. Court records accuse Hayes in two separate incidents involving the same teen, one in August 2012 and another in August 2014.
