A head-on crash on Routes 5 and 20 in the Montezuma Flats area of Seneca County killed one person, the Seneca County Sheriff's Office said. The sheriff's office said a 2007 Ford F350 driven by Ralph C. Brown, 58, of 37 Wintergreen Point, Oswego, was heading west went it entered the eastbound lane and struck a vehicle coming the other way. The sheriff's office said Brown was flown by helicopter to Upstate Medical Center in Syracuse and is being treated for a broken hip and minor facial injuries. A passenger in his vehicle, Debora J. Backus, 62, of the same address, was taken by ambulance to Upstate Medical Center in Syracuse and is being treated for knee, shoulder and facial injuries. Patrick Shea, 62, is still in the hospital after what deputies have called a "tragic accident," according to the Cayuga County Sheriff's Office. Deputies said Shea was with his brother, 65-year-old Timothy Shea, at the Falcon Sportsmen Club in Sennett on Friday when Timothy Shea dropped his. A bullet struck Patrick Shea, passing through his arm and lodged into his head. The Auburn man was airlifted from Turnpike Road sportsmen club to Upstate University Hospital in Syracuse.
