Vehicle crashes week of Aug. 5 - Algona Upper Des Moines
July 31, 10:30 p. m. – Derrik Keith Johnson, 23, Algona, was uninjured in a one-vehicle crash along 255th Street. According to Deputy Keith Briggs of the Kossuth County Sheriff’s Office, Johnson was driving his 2013 Ford F250 Super Duty along 265 Street. Damage to the F250 was estimated at $15,000. Keyes, Kollasch uninjured in crash. July 29, 8:31 a. m. – Jeffrey Dale Keyes, 55, Colman, S. D. , and Jacob Paul Kollasch, 20, Whittemore, were uninjured in a two-vehicle crash along McGregor Street at the intersection of Phillips Street. According to Algona Police Officer Kevin Cram, Keyes and Kollasch were both eastbound on McGregor Street. Keyes was driving a 2003 Kenworth Semi owned by Paul Oakland of Canton, S. D. , and attempted to make a right hand turn. Kollasch was eastbound in a 1998 Jeep Cherokee owned by Dennis Peter Kollasch of Whittemore, in the right turning lane at the intersection of McGregor and Phillips Street. Both vehicles were turning right at the stoplight at the same time, and in the process of making the turn the vehicles collided, with the right side of Keyes trailer and the left side of Kollasch’s vehicle colliding.
