- The Diesel Exhaust Fluid Heater, commonly called the "DEF Heater", is located in the DEF (Diesel Exhaust Fluid / Urea) tank and actually contains the pickup tube for the reductant pump module, an electric heating element, a temperature sensor, a pressure sensor, and an electrode-type level sensor. It enables the SCR (Selective Catalytic Reduction) to function at low temperatures.
- This DEF reservoir heater kit features a redesigned housing to insure it lasts longer than the factory part and includes all the necessary gaskets, o-rings and bolts for a complete trouble-free replacement.
- The reductant tank heater keeps the DEF or reductant warm when temperatures are below freezing. The reductant, which is a reducing agent, helps reduce oxides of nitrogen (NOx) within the diesel exhaust after treatment system.
