1) Diesel has a glow plug relay if that relay stays on all the time it will burn the alternator.
2) some models require a small modification when installing a large case alternator, you need to put washers under the alternator for a clearance between bottom of the alternator -‘s top of bracket to keep the alternator a little higher between the engine and alternator on 7.3 and 6.0 engine. Before installing the belt, turn the pulley with your hand, make sure it’s turning freely, after that install the belt.3) make sure to push the plug hard.

Make sure you have highest core cranking new battery/batteries and run 4 gauge wire from battery positive to behind alternator post and leave original wires too ( not included)
