Ford F-150 to offer a CNG powered 5.0L V8 in 2016 - Examiner.com
Previously, Ford was offering the F-150 with the 3. 7L V6 gaseous-fuel prep package. That option is now discontinued in favor of the more powerful 5. 0L V8 that offers more tow and haul capacity than the V6. “We surveyed customers likely to use natural gas or propane, and 72 percent told us they want to have these alternative-fuel... “We expect the gaseous-fuel prep package will be even more popular than it was on the 2014 F-150 with the 3. 7-liter V6 engine, given the capability of the 2016 F-150 5. 0-liter V8. ”. CNG/propane engine prep from the Ford factory will cost $315.... According to Ford, 2016 F-150 trucks running on CNG or propane will be able to tow the same amount as if they were running on gasoline. The move to the 5. 0L V8 engine increases powertrain output to 385 horsepower and 387 lb. -ft. of torque (the 3. 7L V6 was 302 horsepower and 278 lb. -ft. of torque).
