Eaton and Thompson Valley fans ejected at Legion A baseball game - Greeley Tribune
In a Legion A baseball game Saturday, a strange event took place that Eaton coach Jim Danley has never seen before. Eaton retook the lead with four runs and eventually won the game 6-3. But before that, a controversial play got both teams’ fans riled up. Eaton’s Jake Sandau was running to home plate and dove head first to score, Danley said. As he slid, Thompson Valley’s catcher reached for the ball and Sandau’s feet came up and cut the catcher on his face. Danley said the Loveland Reporter-Herald reported Sandau “spiked” him, and Danley said that wasn’t true. He added that he already talked to Thompson Valley’s coach, Bruce Kelly, about it and they are hoping the Reporter-Herald will run a retraction. “It was just an awkward play,” Danley said. The fans were yelling at one another and at the umpires, who got sick of the yelling and threw all the fans out of the bleachers to the parking lot. I’ve never seen it before,” said Danley, who has been coaching for more than 40 years. Source: www.greeleytribune.com
