I was thinking about all of this while driving the Korean-built (from Ulsan) 2016 Hyundai Elantra GT, the review subject of this week’s column. It is not on the Edmunds list of the 15-most-researched vehicles in the United States for July 2015. It ought to be. The Elantra GT, too, is in the U. S. market without UAW representation. But I seriously doubt that the absence of that union badge will in any way dampen consumer enthusiasm for the car, any more than the absence of unions hurts sales at Wal-Mart or Amazon.
