Social media posts spur talk in Tower City - Citizen Standard
TOWER CITY - After several months of discussion, the Tower City borough council unanimously approved an amendment to its Nuisance Ordinance covering trash receptacles. Effective immediately, the amendment states trash receptacles can not be placed on the curb before noon on the day prior to pickup, and must be removed by midnight on the day of pickup. A Tower City ambulance volunteer was not too happy about pictures that are appearing on Facebook, and strongly noted it during the August 10 meeting. "How many lives have been saved (because of the ambulance), and yet you people post pictures of the ambulance building and complain about the condition of the garage. Jim Brasher, a resident of Porter Township, however, later offered his assistance to help with any work cleaning up around the building. Another volunteer, Nicole Welch, informed council that some of the pictures are not even applicable since they are of property the association does not even own. She agreed with Buffington, who said he often works 50 hours each week in addition to volunteering, that help is needed to do work around the facility. Although the council members and the mayor said they do not control Facebook, they were thankful for the ambulance volunteers and noted their appreciation. Source: citizenstandard.com
