Calgary police officer cleared of wrongdoing by Alberta Serious Incident ... - Calgary Sun

The province’s police watchdog has cleared a Calgary cop involved in a 2013 shooting. In a release issued Wednesday, the Alberta Serious Incident Response Team (ASIRT) stated it found nothing criminal in the actions of an unidentified Calgary police officer after a suspect on a dangerous overnight rampage was wounded by police... Attempting to flee arrest, the suspect driving a Dodge minivan dragged a police officer for 1 1/2 metres before striking several parked cars. Police attempted to stop the suspect using their marked cruisers, prompting the suspect to ram them and spin out at the west side of the 64 Ave. Unable to exit his damaged cruiser, a police officer seated in one of the disabled cruisers fired three shots at the suspect, who later exited the van and was taken into custody. Treated and bandaged by EMS while in police custody, 31-year-old Raymond Germaine Jacobson was charged with dangerous driving, failing to stop for police, possession of break-in instruments and possession of stolen property.
