2013 BMW X6 xDrive35i review notes - AutoWeek
SENIOR ONLINE EDITOR RORY CARROLL: On the key fob that comes with the 2013 BMW X6 xDrive35i, there is a button inscribed with a glyph that is meant to represent a car with its trunk open. The preceding anecdote is a fair summary of my experiences with modern BMWs. By the way, aside from the way it actually functions it's an industry-leading key fob, mostly because it's small enough that a person could carry it in their pocket. From the variety of maddening, puzzling parking procedures they've managed get out of that one sad gear selector, to the increasingly sterile driving experience, BMW makes some cars that I want to love, but ultimately can't. Maybe BMW should be lauded for their bravery. Building a car that looks like the X6 could be called a very brave thing to do and automakers should be encouraged to be brave. The X6 is the slowest-selling BMW after the Z4. It's ponderous and inefficient like a giant SUV, but has the interior space of a medium-sized hatchback. It's not fun to drive, unless fun to drive is meant in an ironic sense. I was once told that if I drove more BMW's, I'd be better able to intuit my way through the little idiosyncrasies of iDrive.
