The influx of so many inmates would tax any county jail, and McLennan County has definitely felt the strain. Jail employees worked all night Sunday and well into Monday to get everyone booked into the jail. One of the bikers hospitalized at Scott & White Hospital in Temple was released Monday afternoon. The Waco Police Department made arrangements for him to be taken to the Bell County Jail, where he was kept until he was picked up by Waco officers and transported to McLennan County, said Bell County Sheriff’s Department spokesman Lt. T. J. Cruz... The Loop 121 jail’s maximum capacity is 634 and the annex jail has a maximum of 183 for a total of 817 beds. As of Tuesday morning, the total inmate count was 664, Bell County Deputy Chief Chuck Cox said. “If McLennan County calls and we’re able to assist them, we will,” Cruz said. Another commodity that may be taxed in McLennan County could be attorneys to handle so many court cases if most of the bikers ask for court-appointed attorneys.
