A pair of Hells Angels members had their appeals quashed by Alberta's top court last week as the appeal judges imposed harsher convictions related to a "multi-kilogram" cocaine trafficking ring in Fort McMurray. The Alberta Court of Appeal dismissed appeals by Alan Knapczyk, 38, and John Alcantara, 39, who were both given 10-year global sentences in 2012 after being found guilty of conspiring to traffic in cocaine for a criminal organization but acquitted... In a separate decision, the appeal judges also sided with the Crown's appeal of the acquittals and found Knapczyk and Alcantara guilty of trafficking in cocaine. 2006 as part of an RCMP investigation into Fort McMurray cocaine kingpin Jeffrey Caines. Their acts prevented or hindered interference with the accomplishment of a criminal act," reads the new decision. "In this way, the respondents provided assistance and encouragement to Mr. Caines in the commission of the offence of trafficking. Alcantara is currently serving a 14-year prison term on an earlier conviction for conspiring to traffic cocaine in a separate case involving a dial-a-doper operation.
