Walter Brown III was killed March 24 after a chase across the city. Police say the events leading up to this shooting began in the parking lot of the Save & Save Supermarket located at 1000 7th Street. Surveillance video from the supermarket shows Brown stopped his silver Chevrolet Malibu in the parking lot, where a pedestrian approached the driver’s side window and interacted with him. Shortly afterwards, Brown parked his vehicle in the vacant gas station parking lot next door and remained in his vehicle. Investigators say a struggle ensued when officers asked Brown to step out of the vehicle. While inside the house officers said Brown pulled out a gun and raised it to his own head. An officer recalled seeing the red dot on the gun indicating it was ready to fire. Police say the officers struggled with Brown and tried to subdue him with a stun gun twice before the fatal shots were fired. Source: wavy.com
