According to the North Dakota Highway Patrol, Eric Larson, 85, of Park River, was driving south on Highway 18 when he drove into the northbound lane to pass the sweeper. After hitting Hinkel, Larson's car swerved into the street sweeper. Both Hinkel and Larson were taken to Pembina County Memorial Hospital, and both cars were totaled and towed from the crash scene.
