GM is working to update their heavy duty and light duty pickups and continue to bring their A-game. Very few official details have been released on the upcoming 2017 Chevy Silverado 1500. However, there are several potential changes that GM and Chevrolet may be working on. Notice that only the front clip of the prototype is camouflaged (actually... It’s clear that better fuel economy is the name of the game, and there are rumors that the updated Silverado/Sierra 1500 pickups will use aluminum for the front fenders as well as the hood. Potential changes include: propagation of the 8-speed automatic transmission across all engine offerings, and introduction of the 10-speed automatic that is being co-developed with Ford. Now, before I state the following, I will let you know I do work for a GM dealer as a Fleet Manager and Sale Trainer, so yes there is a slight bias but I have also sold Ford in the past and both are great trucks. I had a chance to put some miles on a new F150 and Silverado back to back over some rough roads (railway crossings, gravel road washboard, etc) and I have to say the F150 felt like it needed a couple hundred pounds in the back to keep it.
