Cool tech alert! Chevrolet adds Apple CarPlay and Android Auto in 2016 - CNYcentral.com
Whether you're an iPhone or an Android, Chevrolet has some great news for you: Starting with the 2016 model year, 14 vehicles will get both Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. What is truly impressive, however, is that this awesome technology is available in a car that costs $13K as well as the one that costs $56K. I recently sat through a demonstration of CarPlay in both a Chevrolet Spark and a Corvette and was... Talk to text worked just as well in the Corvette as it did in the Spark, and I liked the fact that you could easily have the car read you your text messages. Even better: The only text you see is who is sending the text message. You won't see apps like Facebook or Twitter included in either Auto or CarPlay because they will take your eyes - and concentration - away from the road. Instead you'll see a bevy of audio apps and verbal text apps. Apps currently available on CarPlay include: Podcasts, Audiobooks, iHeartRadio, At Bat, Spotify, Stitcher, CBS Radio, Rdio, Overcast, audiobooks. Though I wasn't able to see Android Auto in action, I've heard it's just as easy and seamless as CarPlay. Apps for Auto include: iHeartRadio, Joyride, kik, Threema, NPR, Skype, Pocket Casts, Talkray, Contacts+, Spotify, Stitcher, Text Me. , textPlus, TuneIn Radio, Umano and ICQ. Source: cnycentral.com
