Man arrested after dragging DPD officer with car - State Gazette

DPD Officer Skylar Lopp recognized a grey Dodge Stratus at the gas pump and approached the driver, Chad Jones, in an attempt to talk to Jones about a shoplifting warrant. As Lopp moved closer to the vehicle in an attempt to prevent Jones from driving away, Jones allegedly grabbed the officers right arm and began to drive off. He was able to break free after reportedly punching Jones in the throat with his left arm, a move causing Jones to let go of his right arm before the vehicle ran over Lopp's right foot, lower-leg area. Witnesses at the scene all collaborated the officer's version of events, stating the Dodge driven by Jones drug Lopp through the parking lot before running over him and speeding away. "The decision to flee from the officer could have cost Officer Lopp significant injury or death, and the outcome could have ended much differently for all involved," said DPD Chief Steve Isbell.
