See also: “ Super Duty, Ford ,” and “ Heavy Duty, Ram. ” There’s the same pissing match among heavy-duty diesel pickups as there is with half-ton models, so pick your flavor and your brand and expect to be able to accomplish just about anything you need to. In the case of our 2014 Chevrolet Silverado... Yes, $61K is a lot of money for a pickup truck but the price difference between a similarly equipped half-ton Silverado and this diesel 2500HD is not as great as you may think -- it’s mostly in the cost of the engine and transmission package, well... I’ll be the first to admit I’m not a “truck guy,” but I love any vehicle that does its intended job well -- that probably explains why I so enjoyed my weekend in the Silverado 2500HD. It’s a superb heavy-duty truck. ASSOCIATE EDITOR JAKE LINGEMAN: The standard Silverado is a big, flying brick of a truck that’ll handle almost anything you throw at it, payload. Source: autoweek.com
