4-vehicle collision kills 2 on Thruway downstate - Albany Times Union
RAMAPO — Two people were killed in a crash Thursday just before 10 a. m. that involved a tractor-trailer, two box trucks and a fourth vehicle on I-87 at Exit 14B. All southbound traffic was being diverted at Exit 15, to Route 17 South. State Police said a mattress box truck traveling north in the right lane, cut across two lanes, striking a box truck and passenger car, before striking a guiderail and crossing into southbound traffic where it was struck by a tractor-trailer. The driver of the mattress box truck, Rambaran Hemankumar, 33 of Jamaica, Queens, and his passenger, Juan Soto , 20 of Woodhaven, died from their injuries. The driver of the second box truck, Peter Lebron , 24 of Newburgh was uninjured. The driver of the passenger vehicle, a Dodge Ram, Louis Riconda, 51 of Corona, was uninjured.
