Phillip Schofield to reunite with Gordon the Gopher in the Broom Cupboard - Express.co.uk
This Morning host Phillip began his TV career in 1985 as the first 'in-vision continuity' presenter for Children's BBC. Now the silver fox and his puppet co-presenter Gordon are set to be reunited on Wednesday September 9, along with Andi Peters and Edd the Duck, exactly 30 years to the day since Schofield made his debut behind the tiny control desk. The 53-year-old presenter said: "I can't believe it's 30 years since I welcomed viewers to the first afternoon of Children's BBC. I had great fun in the Broom Cupboard, learning the skills of live TV. If you can introduce Newsround with a fluffy Gopher squeaking next to you, you can handle anything. Other past presenters joining in the live celebrations live at MediaCityUK in Salford include Zoe Ball, Andy Crane, Toby Anstis, Angellica Bell, Dick and Dom and Otis the Aardvark. Peters said: "I'm really looking forward to getting back in the Broom Cupboard with my old mate Edd the Duck for the 30th anniversary. "When I last presented Children's BBC, Take That were topping the charts and Chris Evans was everywhere. The 60-minute celebration show, Hacker's Birthday Bash, hosted by current presenters Hacker T Dog, Cel Spellman, Katie Thistleton and Dodge T Dog, will also see the announcement of a brand new CBBC presenter live on air. Back in 2005 the much-loved host said Gordon had become an alcoholic and in 2006 he stated the gopher Broom Cupboard had died in a ram-raiding accident. Source: www.express.co.uk
