Road rage suspected in Highway 97 crash - Bend Bulletin

-- returnText2 = The crash Tuesday on U. S. Highway 97 that involved three vehicles and injured eight people may have been caused by road rage, according to Oregon State Police Lt. Bill Fugate. A news release after the incident indicated a 1994 Ford Explorer, driven by Bobby Howie, 38, of Redmond, was southbound on Highway 97 when it crossed into the northbound lane and hit a 2007 GMC Yukon and a 2015 Honda Pilot. The driver of the GMC Yukon was taken to a local hospital with nonlife-threatening injuries, as was the driver of the Honda Pilot. A witness said someone “engaged in road rage-like behavior,” Fugate said, noting he would not identify any suspects because “we don’t know for sure which person was participating, who was the instigator. The crash was the second in one day on the stretch of highway between Bend and Redmond, and closed the highway for one and a half hours. -- zz22 The crash Tuesday on U. S.
