Theft doesn't stop woman who survived battle with flesh-eating bacteria - WALB-TV

Aimee Copeland, the Georgia woman who survived a battle with a flesh-eating bacteria, has become the victim of a crime. Her custom Honda Odyssey van and the wheelchair inside were stolen over the weekend from in front of her Atlanta-area home. Copeland, 27, has family in the Upstate. Copeland recently spoke at a Greenville fundraiser to benefit a facility that serves those with special needs. During her talk, Copeland shared her personal story of overcoming own challenges. Copeland contracted a flesh-eating bacteria after a fall from a homemade zip line into a river in 2012. Copeland lost both of her hands, her left leg and her right foot. Copeland took another motorized wheelchair to work on Monday morning. Family members here confirm that Copeland got word this afternoon that the van she nicknamed "Sylvia" has been found.
