David Crawford, Chief Executive Officer of the Motor Industry Association says ‘After a flat May, the new vehicle market once again took off in June with 13,030 new vehicles registered, the strongest month of June on record and the 5th strongest... Toyota remained the overall market leader for the month of June with 23 percent (2,942 vehicles) followed by Holden with 11 percent (1,373 vehicles) and Ford with 10 percent (1,277 vehicles). New passenger car registrations of 9021 vehicles in June were up 504 units on June 2014 sales of 8,517 vehicles. Toyota remains the market leader for passenger vehicles (2,171 vehicles/24 percent) followed by Holden (870 vehicles/10 percent) and Hyundai (773 vehicles/9 percent). The top selling passenger model for the month of June was the Toyota Rav4 (613 vehicles) followed by the Toyota Highlander (489 vehicles) and the Toyota Corolla (436 vehicles). New commercial vehicle registrations of 4,009 vehicles in June were marginal up by 7 units on June 2014 sales of 4,002 vehicles. Ford displaced Toyota as the commercial vehicle leader for the month of June (811 vehicles/20 percent), however Toyota remains the market leader, followed by Ford and Holden. New commercial vehicle sales hit a record for April - The National Business Review

New Zealand sales of new commercial vehicles hit a record for April amid strong demand from tradespeople and farmers. April registrations for new commercial vehicles rose 6 percent to 2,915, the highest level for the month on record, according to the Lower Hutt-based Motor Industry Association. Sales for the first four months of this year are 14 percent ahead of the same period last year and the strongest for the period on record, the MIA said. That is helping sales of new vehicles, which rose to a record last year. The top three best-selling models for April were all light commercial vehicles - the Ford Ranger, Toyota Hilux and Nissan Navara. A stronger New Zealand dollar, particularly against the Aussie, euro and yen, is helping lower the cost of new vehicles in local currency terms, Crawford said. Increased sales and promotional activity during April and May ahead of the June agricultural fieldays is also stoking sales of commercial vehicles to the agricultural and rural market.
