Police: Greenville man confessed to leaving deadly crash scene - WSFA

Debris and police markings scattered across the road are evidence of a tragic chain of events that played out at a Greenville intersection, ultimately claiming the life of a 26-year-old woman. Greenville police say the other driver involved in the fatal crash has confessed to running away from the scene. Audraina Hamilton had just pulled out onto the roadway at the intersection from private property around 2:30 a. m. Sunday when her Nissan Altima was hit by a Chevy Silverado. Back in Greenville, police worked to track down the driver of the truck. Sunday, Cornelius Parmer, 32, of Greenville, was arrested at his home for felony leaving the scene of an accident that resulted in serious injury or death and obstruction of government operations, a misdemeanor. “He was interviewed by me at that time and did admit to being the driver of the other vehicle and leaving the scene on foot,” said Captain Justin Lovvorn, who oversees the Greenville Police Department's Investigations Division. Greenville investigators and state troopers are working to piece together exactly how the accident happened and the all of the factors that played a part in it.
